Nordonia Middle School students attempted to launch lanterns Sept. 15 to commemorate the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Unfortunately, windy weather foiled those plans and a balloon launch took place instead. The balloons were donated by Giant Eagle and the lanters by an anonymous donor.

Team Gatekeeper also had a speaker come in to discuss September 11th on Sept. 12. Students in teacher Lori Jordan's class wrote tributes to those who lost their lives. The tributes are being forwarded to the September 11th Memorial Museum in New York City.

The Team Gatekeeper seventh grade teachers, including Jordan, Shauna Ault, Toni Donze, Megan Bailey, and George Edgar used September 11th as a backdrop to not only educate students on the event, itself, but as a means of advancing content standards and to give students a voice in the greater world.
