Possession of drugs: A 26-year-old Tallmadge man was charged with possession of drugs (marijuana) Jan. 14 at 10:10 a.m. on East Aurora Road. Police performed a random registration check on the vehicle, where a computer indicated "plate not found," according to police. Following a traffic stop, police said the driver told them he had just purchased the plates that morning. Police said they smelled a "strong" odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. The man reported the smell was caused by his brother, who had been smoking, police said. Police said the Tallmadge man admitted to having marijuana in his backpack. Police said the bag of marijuana in the man's possession weighed 8.8 grams.

Clothing, shoes stolen: A 26-year-old Aurora woman was charged with robbery Jan. 23 at 2:13 p.m. at a Macedonia Commons store. Police were summoned after a report of a woman concealing items, leaving the store without paying and getting into an SUV that headed toward Route 8. Police stopped the vehicle on Route 8, where the woman was wearing a stolen tank top and also had stolen shoes in the vehicle. The items were worth a total of $110. According to police, the woman admitted hiding the shoes in her purse, for which she was charged with possession of criminal tools.


Tools taken: A partner in a Capital Boulevard business reported Jan. 26 at 11:16 a.m. the theft of a $299 tool kit, a $149 table saw and an $87 vacuum cup. The man reported he and his business partner noticed the items were missing Jan. 23. There was no report of forced entry. Police are investigating.

Shirts missing: A 30-year-old Maple Heights woman was charged with theft Jan. 13 at 6:22 p.m. after police said she took three shirts worth a total of $72 without paying at a Macedonia Commons store. The stolen items were returned to the store.

Possession of drug paraphernalia: A 48-year-old Akron man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Jan. 14 at 2:10 a.m. on Northfield Road. Police said they stopped the vehicle because of a faulty exhaust pipe and canceled dealer plates, for which the man was charged with driving under suspension. Police said they found one small segment of a glass crack pipe containing residue inside the vehicle.


Uninvited guest in store: Police were summoned Jan. 6 at 3:10 p.m. to a Northfield Road business after the store manager reported a man had entered the business and gone through her purse and wallet, as well as some desk drawers in the store office in the rear of the building. An employee reported that after the man was seen leaving the office, he was asked what he had been doing and replied he was looking for a restroom. The man walked to the restroom and left the store, the employee reported. Police said the incident could be seen on videotape and the man was not seen taking anything. The manager reported nothing was missing from her purse or wallet. The man got away. Police are investigating.


Gambling device damaged: A 36-year-old Cleveland Heights man was charged with vandalism Jan. 10 at 3:55 p.m. at the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park. Police were summoned after a Rocksino employee reported the man damaged a VLT machine by punching the screen. The value of the device was $1,617.
