Nordonia Hills Branch Library is located at 9458 Olde Eight Road in Northfield. Branch Library hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, Noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. / Closed Sundays.

Monthly Challenges

For Grades K-5 - Monthly challenges will be located in children's area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the May project, create your own comic strip!

Cookies and Conversation

The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what's going on your life, school, town or the world. We'll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group's mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m.

Socrates Caf

Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Caf, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion

Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, May 11 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Atlantic or Pacific, each by Simon Winchester.

Muffins with Mom

Come and share a muffin with your mom, grandma, or other special lady on Saturday, May 13, 11am. Registration is suggested for purchasing craft supplies.

Messy Mondays

Join us for messy fun! Don't forget to wear some old clothes, you may get messy. On Monday, May 15, 6 p.m. we will make and reveal secret messages by using watercolor paints.

Social Security: How to Get the Most Out of Your Social Security Benefits

Paul Bernier, Retirement Planning Specialist, presents a program for anyone in or nearing retirement and interested in making informed decisions about the foundation of their retirement income plan. Tuesday, May 16, 6:30 p.m.

Writers' Guild of Nordonia Hills

Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 17.

Nordonia Hills Game Time

The library hosts a regular gaming "meet-up" each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, May 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players Sharpen your intellect - Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Family Night

Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. we'll get together for some great crafts. Monday, May 22 Do your fairies need a new home? Come in and create one any fairy would love.

Teen Mini Makerspace

For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 4 pm we will get together and create using a different medium each time. On Tuesday, May 23 at 4 p.m., make something with Styrofoam.

Cashing Out: Your Guide to Maximizing the Value of Your Business

This program is designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities small business owners face as they plan for retirement. Business owners within 10 years of retirement will find this program especially useful. Presented by Paul Bernier, Retirement Planning Specialist. Tuesday, May 23, 6:30 p.m.

After School Club

For children in K-4th grade. Wednesday, May 24 at 4 p.m. We will make bead fireflies and dragonflies.

Mystery Book Discussions

The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be Chaos, by Patricia Cornwell on Wednesday, May 24 at 7 p.m.

Adult Coloring Night

Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, May 30, 6 p.m.

College Funding Workshop

The cost of a college education has skyrocketed and, as a result, many parents feel completely overwhelmed, with little to no guidance on how they can minimize the cost of college. College Funding Educators of America was formed to provide comprehensive education to parents so that they can maximize financial aid and understand various college funding strategies that will help reduce their family's out-of-pocket expenses. Wednesday, May 30, 6:30 p.m.

Plan for Your Stuff

We all have stuff, and some of us have lots of stuff! At some point, we (or our families) will have to deal with our stuff. This can be a big and emotionally challenging job. Andrew Richmond discusses why you need to plan for your stuff, helpful planning tips, when & how to get an appraisal, ways of selling your personal property, and how to prepare yourself mentally. Registration is suggested. Thursday, June 1, 7 p.m.

Crafters' Corner

Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3rd-4th Grade Book Club

We will discuss the book Life According to Dani by Rose Lagercrante (AR 3.4 Pts 1) on Monday, June 5, at 4 p.m. over drinks and a snack.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat

Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Wednesdays, June 7 and 21, July 5 and 19, 6:30 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads

Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss the Reader's Choice of a book for our 11th anniversary on Monday, June 12 at 2 p.m.

The Novel in You: Introduction to Novel Writing

In this six-part writing workshop, each session will provide an in-depth look at a different part of writing, including how to create realistic characters, dialogue and plot, and the tools necessary for bringing out the best of the writer's work. This unique program is designed to provide encouragement and guidance to both beginning and seasoned writers. Registration is requested. Tuesdays, June 13, 20, 27, July 11, 18, and 25, 6:30 p.m.

Stitch Clique

Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, June 13, 6-8 p.m.

Cooking Club

An interactive group for discussing all things cooking, comparing recipes, and trying new eats. Third Tuesday of each month. Tuesday, June 20, 7 p.m.
