Nordonia Middle School band students Elizabeth Waight -- percussion, Natalie Wurts -- flute, Raymond Tao -- clarinet, Lily Hamilton -- Euphonium, and Julia Dulaney -- flute, were selected to participate in the District VI, Ohio Music Education Association Honor Band at the College of Wooster on Nov. 18.

They joined about 90 other middle school students from Summit, Portage, Wayne and Medina Counties to perform with guest conductor, Kathleen McGrady. Tao has also been selected to perform with the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony for the 2016-17 school year. The youth symphony performs at Severance Hall, as well as other venues in the area.

On Jan. 28, the eighth-grade band along with several members of the high school band will perform at the Lake Erie Monsters game. Tickets can be purchased through the middle school PTSA, or by calling Mary Schrembeck, Director of Middle School Bands at 330-908-6657.

The middle school band's next performance will be March 1, 2017, at Nordonia Middle School at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium. It will feature the composition, Dark Matter, by 2004 Nordonia graduate John Pasternak.
