An open house at St. Barnabas Catholic School Jan. 29 kicked off Catholic Schools Week, which continues through Feb. 4.
The open house featured tours of the school and an "Ex-STREAM" expo that featured science, technology, religion, engineering, art and music presented by the school's junior high students.
Students in grades 6-8 displayed History Day projects.
On Feb. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m., St. Barnabas will host its "Kindergarten Experience," open to any youngster in the area that will enter kindergarten in the fall, whether they are registered or not.
Principal Thomas McFadden said this will be the second year for the kindergarten event. Students and their parents go through what a day of kindergarten is like in 15-minute segments including gym class, music class, checking out books from the library, making a project in art class, working on computers in tech lab, and going through the lunch line and paying for a snack "like the big kids do."
Registration for the event begins at 5:30 p.m.
Children will also take home gifts like the kindergarteners do including a tote bag to take to class with them, a report card for all of their classes and a book from the library.
