Northfield Center -- A Uniontown woman pleaded guilty Jan. 2 to first-degree felony aggravated robbery and was sentenced to three years in prison in connection with the Aug. 5 assault on an 82-year-old woman in the Crossings at Golden Link Giant Eagle's parking lot.

According to Summit County Court of Common Pleas records, Judge Mary Rowlands ordered that Kimberly A. Tromski, 43, serve her sentence in the Ohio Reformatory for Women.

In a plea bargain, Rowlands dismissed a second-degree felony assault charge against Tromski, according to court records. Eddie Sipplen, Tromski's attorney, declined to comment.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, Tromski approached the woman in the parking lot about 2:30 p.m. Aug 5. 2012, grabbed the woman's purse and knocked her the ground. There was a struggle, a bystander intervened and Tromski fled in a vehicle, leaving the purse behind, said the sheriff's office.

The Northfield Village Fire Department treated the 82-year-old for injuries to her arm and shoulder and a relative drove her to a medical facility for further treatment, the sheriff's office said.

A sheriff's deputy on patrol in the township Aug. 22 saw Tromski in her vehicle, realized that both she and the vehicle matched descriptions provided by the woman and witnesses and stopped her, said the sheriff's office.

The deputy called sheriff's detectives, who arrested Tromski.
