Macedonia Issue 1 and Northfield Center Issue 3 were both rejected by voters, according to final, but unofficial results from the Summit County Board of Elections.
With ballots from all 12 Macedonia precincts counted at 9 p.m., the board of elections reports Issue 1 has failed by a nearly three-to-one margin -- around 75 to 25 percent or 1,458 to 498 votes, according to unofficial results.
With ballots from all five Northfield Center precincts counted at 9 p.m., the board of elections reports Issue 3 has failed by a margin of around 83-to-17 percent, or 1,066 to 223 votes, according to unofficial results.
Northfield Center's Issue 3 would have been earmarked for the resurrection of the Northfield Center Township Fire Department.

The Summit County Board of Elections has released a count of absentee ballots for Macedonia Issue 1 and Northfield Center Township Issue 3.
Issue 1 is a 0.5 percent income tax increase that would raise the city income tax from 2 to 2.5 percent for five years, after which the city income tax would be 2.25 percent. The money is specifically earmarked for road and stormwater management.
According to the Board of Elections preliminary, unofficial count, there are 58 votes against the income tax and 21 votes for. Zero of 12 precincts had been counted as of 7:35 p.m.
The elections report's unofficial count of absentee ballots shows Issue 3 in Northfield Center failing by a count of 76 votes to 8. Zero of five precincts have been counted.
