Northfield man killed in Cleveland shooting

News outlets reported a Northfield man was shot in an East Cleveland neighborhood Aug. 10 during an attempted robbery.

According to the reports, Stephen Menter, 26, was sitting inside a vehicle in the driveway of a home on East 176th Street, with two of his brothers and a fourth unidentified man when two men approached the vehicle and tried to rob them. Reports say Mr. Menter attempted to drive away from the robbers but the gunmen began firing and shot him in the chest before he crashed the vehicle into a nearby house.

Paramedics took Mr. Menter to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died, according to the news reports. Reports stated the fourth man was also shot in the leg but that no information was available on his condition, and Mr. Menter's brothers were physically unharmed.

A Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Office spokesperson said no official ruling has been made on Menter's death as of press time.
