Brecksville -- A Sagamore Hills man is dead after a head-on collision Sept. 21 in Brecksville.

James Skoda, 64, was traveling west on Route 82 just before 9 a.m. when police say he crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming eastbound traffic and struck another vehicle head-on near the Riverview Road intersection. The driver of the other vehicle, a 73-year-old Broadview Heights man, was taken to the MetroHealth Medical Center in Brecksville, as was Skoda.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office says Skoda died at the hospital. Spokesperson Christopher Harris said Skoda died from blunt-force impact to his head, trunk and extremities, along with other internal injuries he sustained in the traffic accident.

The 73-year-old man was released from the hospital, according to Brecksville police.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident, police said.
