Take note of the information on how to register as an organ donor

With thousands of people on organ donation waiting lists, those willing to donate their bodies to help others is crucial in saving lives.

Here are a few ways to register as an organ donor.

Register online with the Ohio Donor Registry. A valid Ohio driver license or state identification card is required.

Contact Lifebanc at www.lifebanc.org for a registry enrollment form. Mail it to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Say "YES" to organ and tissue donation when renewing a driver's license or state identification card.

The Ohio Donor Registry is an important step in addressing the critical donor shortage. Key provisions of the Ohio Donor Bill (Senate Bill 188) were the following:

An individual's declaration of his/her intent to be an organ donor constitutes legal consent.

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is required to establish a donor registry of everyone who has agreed to make an anatomical donation. The information is to be made available to procurement agencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
