SAGAMORE HILLS Township Trustees have awarded low-bidder Ronyak Paving the contract to perform the McNeil Drive reclamation project, which will happen this summer.
Trustee John Zaccardeli said there is no timeline established for the project to start but he anticipates a pre-construction meeting to be held within a couple of weeks of the May 18 bid award.
Six companies bid on the project including Ronyak. The other bidders were Perrin Asphalt, Chagrin Valley Paving Inc., Barbicas Construction, Tenmile Creek and Burton Scot. Ronyak's winning bid was for $257,687 and will include the cul-de-sac at the end of McNeil Drive. Burton Scot bid the highest at $302,970.
Dave Smith of the Summit County Engineer's Office, said McNeil Drive is approximately 1,700 feet long and will have a full-depth reclamation, or stabilization of the base and resurfacing. He estimated it will take approximately 30 days to complete the work. Trustees anticipate the road will be closed for the project with access only for residents.
Trustee Paul Schweikert said he expects the project will be completed by Oct. 1.
Schweikert said the township will not receive grant money because there are no sewers involved and the project would not score high enough for Ohio Public Works Commission funding.
