Plans for a proposed Major League Soccer stadium in northern Summit County have entered a new phase as neighboring communities are negotiating an annexation agreement.
Terms of a "framework for annexation agreement" between Macedonia and Northfield Center Township state the communities and school district would split income taxes from development on the proposed sports complex-retail area being proposed by the Wolstein Sports and Entertainment Group.
The land in question includes property in Northfield Center east of Route 8 from the Boston Heights border to the Macedonia border, according to Northfield Center Trustee Richard Reville.
All three Northfield Center Trustees, Macedonia Mayor Don Kuchta and two members of Macedonia City Council signed the framework July 18 at a meeting of the Joint Economic Development District Board of Directors.
