Eileen Moushey of Kent has received a writing Emmy from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Lower Great Lakes Chapter) for the educational series, Shortcuts To Happiness. This is the fifth nomination Moushey has received as a writer and the second Emmy she has won.

Moushey is primarily known as a writer and director of interactive mystery plays. Since 1985, her company, Mysteries by Moushey, Inc., has performed her original shows at venues throughout the Midwest.

Additionally, more than 1,000 theatres and schools all over the world have staged their own productions of her comedy/mystery scripts.

In addition to her affinity for comic crime, Moushey also enjoys writing for television and is particularly proud of "Shortcuts To Happiness."

"Our goal was to connect the reality of working as a performing arts professional with the activities and aspirations of young artists in our schools," Mourshey said. "We felt we met that goal and, evidently, the Emmy voters agreed! For that we are very grateful."

"Shortcuts To Happiness" includes interviews with professionals in theatre, television, dance, music, and performing arts education. Local working artists were featured along with members of professional touring companies. Each of these interviews was followed by profiles of area students who were involved in similar activities at their schools. Students from Twinsburg, Green and Lake Local Schools participated in the 10 episodes in the series.
