Macedonia -- Couch potatoes beware, the Tractor Supply Co. is a place primarily for people who like to be active.

"Tractor Supply is for people who are taking care of animals, land and property. Those are the big three," said Susan Morgenstern, a spokesperson for the Brentwood, Tenn.-based company.

Tractor Supply opened its 19,097-square-foot, 14-employee Macedonia store at 2011 Alexandria Way on Feb. 22. A grand opening is planned for April 26.

Morgenstern said it is one of 764 stores in 43 states.

"There are 68 Tractor Supply stores in Ohio. Ohio is a big state for Tractor Supply," she said.

Products sold include tools, outdoor power equipment, such as chain saws and riding mowers, welding equipment, vehicle maintenance merchandise, work clothing, footwear for men and women, and livestock and pet care products.

"We have a big horse section," said Morgenstern.

Morgenstern said Tractor Supply customers are evenly split between men and women and caters to those who work on farms, in stables and as landscapers. She added homeowners who spend a lot of time puttering around outside their homes will also find items of interest.

"Everything you need for your lawn and garden, from seeds to birdhouses," she said.

Home improvement supplies, such as paint, plumbing and electrical products are also available, as are leisure products such as toys and games, all terrain vehicles, small boats go-carts and minibikes. The store is open Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
