Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6768 announces the 2008 Nordonia Hills Memorial Day Parade guest speaker is WKYC TV Channel 3 News anchor Tim White. All organizations, including but not limited too Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Ball teams, clubs and church groups, are invited to participate in the parade, which starts at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Northfield Center. Organizers hope to see more floats this year. Participants are asked to have an adult at the drop-off point and the post-parade rally point. Participants are also asked to not throw or leave candy in the parking lot of the church. There will be no bicycles or go-carts allowed in the parade. Organizers want to remind participants and guests that the Memorial Day Parade is not a political rally. It is requested that parade-goers refrain from wearing political buttons, displaying bumper stickers or fliers. No commercial trucks will be allowed unless they are towing a float. This parade is meant to be a somber occasion. The parade will start lining up at St. Barnabas Church at 9 a.m. Participants should enter from the Brandywine Road entrance, as the Olde Eight Road entrance is the start point for the parade only. The parade will start promptly at 10 a.m. The Veterans Memorial Day Service at the Northfield/Macedonia Cemetery will start at 11 a.m. For more information, call Parade Marshal Brian Barber at 330-467-5561, Ben Batton at 304-228-3735, Marty Timbers at 216-253-2379, or Geno Timbers at 330-467-6426.
