Golf pro, owned Shady Oaks Farm Bed and Breakfast

Visiting hours are scheduled for
1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. June 18 at Ferfolia Funeral Home for Paul G. Tirpak, owner of Shady Oaks Farm Bed and Breakfast in Northfield Center. Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at Saint Barnabas Catholic Church, with a Mass at 10 a.m. June 19.

Mr. Tirpak, 58, died June 14, 2008, following 21 months in a critical care facility.

Mr. Tirpak was born June 18, 1949 in Cleveland to Mary and Joseph Tirpak, both deceased, and grew up in Brecksville with his brother, Ron, deceased.

He was the husband of Donna, nee Gabarik, and the father of Lisa (Tim) and Mike. He was the uncle of Melanie and Rachel.

Mr. Tirpak was a golf professional and a 35-year member of the PGA of America, where he served as president, vice president and secretary of the Northern Ohio Section. He was inducted into the Professional Golf Hall of Fame in October 2007.

Mr. Tirpak operated Astorhurst Country Club in Walton Hills for 24 years, retiring in 1990s, and was the owner of Wicked Woods Golf Club in Newbury.

While operating the golf courses was a highlight of his life, another was teaching golf.

For the last five years Mr. Tirpak and his wife have run Shady Oaks Farm Bed and Breakfast. Mr. Tirpak's job was to entertain the guests.
