Northfield Village -- Village police arrested a 16-year-old Sagamore Hills boy, wanted by the Summit County Juvenile Court for an alleged probation violation, after they chased the boy on foot June 11.

A Beach Avenue woman reported that someone, later identified as the boy, was in her backyard at about 3 p.m. Police said that when they arrived, they saw the boy running through backyards on Beach.

When another village police officer saw the boy running south on Vorderman, he ordered the boy to stop, but the boy kept running, police said. The officer was able to catch the boy and turned him over to township police. Sagamore Hills police said the boy was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

According to township police reports, the boy's grandmother, with whom he lives, reported June 4 that the boy had taken $120 from her purse and she wanted to turn him over to his probation officer. The grandmother reported the next day, however, that the boy had run away.
