The Merriman Valley Business Association and Weathervane Playhouse, in association with the City of Akron Bureau of Recreation and the City Department of Planning & Urban Development, are offering a new summer concert series on the lawn of the playhouse. The concerts started June 22, with future concerts on July 13 and Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. Admission to each of the concerts is free of charge and is open to everyone. The bands being featured at the concerts are: * The Waiting -- July 13 (a Tom Petty Tribute band); and * Zach -- Aug. 10 (a contemporary pop band) The goal of this concert series is to promote the Merriman Valley. By offering and promoting this summer concert series, along with other activities, the Business Association hopes to reestablish the Valley as one of the top neighborhoods in Akron.
