History First Hand offers new perspective of Stan HywetJuly 2, 2008
The next Family Friendly Days at the Manor House of Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens are July 19 and Sept. 13. On these special days, all tours are self-guided, with additional information provided by the History First Hand group, who will bring the Manor House to life as it was in the 1920s. Visitors will encounter characters portraying employees and friends of Gertrude and F.A. Seiberling. In the Music Room, guests can chat with Mrs. Mansfield, a friend of Mrs. Seiberling, about the women's right-to-vote issue; take notes from the personal chef of the Seiberlings as he prepares a meal in the kitchen; and learn the secrets behind the huge ring of keys that belongs to Mrs. Parks, the head housekeeper. "On Family Friendly Days, we provide a self-guided Manor House tour that is interactive, so that visitors and especially our youngest guests can learn about the history of Stan Hywet in a way that appeals to children and families," said Katie Campbell, vice president of marketing at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is open Tuesday through Sunday 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. and admission closes at 4:30 p.m. For more information on tour options and admission fees, visit www.stanhywet.org.
