Methodists hosting July 12 concert

During a long summer evening on July 12, the Sanctuary Festival Series of the United Methodist Church of Macedonia will present the popular Bluegrass band Coney Carver and the Rainbow Valley Boys.

Although Coney Carver and the Rainbow Valley Boys hail from nearby Akron, their music is good, old fashioned Bluegrass, the kind made popular many years ago by Bill Monroe.

Over the years, Coney has played with Bluegrass great, Ralph Stanley, and has been featured at the Kent State Folk Festival and on many recordings.

Though some band members have come and gone, Coney has played with fellow band member guitarist Billy Wright for more than 50 years.

The church is located at 1280 East Aurora Road. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will take place in the pavilion behind the church, with parking on the grass along the road and by the Pavilion.

In case of rain, the concert will take place inside the church. A free-will offering will be taken to help defray expenses. For further information, call the church office at 330-467-3169.
