------ ESTEL MAE RIGGS ------ Former Lee Eaton cook A funeral service was scheduled for June 10 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home in Zanesville, followed by a graveside service June 11 at 1 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton for Estel Mae Riggs. Mrs. Riggs, 90, of Tendercare Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., formerly of Zanesville, Elyria and Macedonia, died June 6, 2009. Mrs. Riggs was born July 13, 1918, in rural Gallia Co., to Random Fox Faulkner and Sarah Jane Sanders Faulkner. She married Maynard E. Riggs on Jan. 20, 1940. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1990. She was the mother of Linda S. (Brian) Mayfield of Quincy, Ill., Barbara G. (Rev. James) Turner of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and Darrell L. (Martha) Riggs of Zanesville. She had 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Lennie Rossiter and Lottie Parker, both deceased. Mrs. Riggs was an active member of Northfield Baptist Church in Macedonia and Abbe Road Baptist Church in Elyria for many years, and attended Maranatha Bible Church in Zanesville. She retired as head cook at Lee Eaton Elementary School in Macedonia. She was a gifted seamstress, cook, baker and homemaker and loved table games. She enjoyed travel, and after retiring, spent many winters in Florida with her husband. She passed down her love of reading and music to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joys were her family and her Lord. Comments
