-- Terri Ream wants her new business, Dashboard Accounting, to become an integral part of its clients' businesses.
"We're looking to be the accounting department for the small and medium sized businesses," said Ream.
Ream, Dashboard Accounting's owner and president, and her husband Clayton opened the business in the Macedonia Professional Building, 8536 Crow Drive, Suite 120, in April. She said the company has eight clients so far.
Her husband Clayton serves as vice president of marketing and operations. Two other staff members include Director of Business Development Caroline McClendon and Staff Accountant Elizabeth Lesher.
In addition to serving as a comptroller or CFO, Dashboard Accounting provides a variety of bookkeeping services, including processing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and ledger services, as well as financial reporting and QuickBooks software services.
The company also provides clients with a monthly "Dashboard Report," which gives the client an at-a-glance look at such areas as sales, costs and revenues.
"It can be customized and tailored to what they want," said Clayton Ream.
Terri Ream said the report is an important tool for "strategic planning and budgeting" as well as to identify areas of concern.
Ream said she is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of experience in accounting. She earned a masters degree in information systems from Cleveland State University in 1999 and is certified in professional project management by the Project Management Institute, a trade organization. She said she has experience with information technology as it relates to finance, including such areas as converting data to different computer software.
"So I really wear a lot of different hats," she said.
The Reams live in Twinsburg and had looked at a location there. But the much larger space available in the Macedonia building makes a long-term stay more likely.
"We didn't want to move after six months," said Clayton Ream.
Dashboard Accounting is open Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
