Northfield Center voters have given incumbent Trustees Paul Buescher and Brent Sommer solid victories over challenger Marc Pepera.

With four out of five precincts counted, Pepera earned 587 votes, coming in third-place behind Buescher and Sommer, who earned 923 and 942 votes respectively.

Buescher, 56, is completing his first term. Until his retirement two years ago, he worked as a project electrician in the automotive industry for 30 years.

"I'm very happy that both of us got back in there so we can keep the team running," he said.

Sommer, 53, served a term as Trustee from 1997 through 2000 and is completing his second term. He has previously served as a member of the township's zoning commission and board of zoning appeals.

“I would like to thank the township residents for their support and I promise to give my best effort without any hidden agendas,” he said.

Pepera, 54, is a "semi retired" industrial chemist who served as Trustee from 2002 through 2005, Pepera previously said he wanted to work on township financial record keeping issues, ensure there is a regular annual road-paving program and look into developing a low-cost senior snowplowing program.

“I thank the residents who came out to support me and my vision of what responsible and responsive township government should look like,” said Pepera. “I wish the township well.”
