There will be a new face on village Council, after voters selected Karyn Selle over former Councilman Mark Apana for the Ward A representative's seat.

According to final, but unoffical results from the Summit County Board of Elections, voters picked Selle over Apana by 142 to 99 votes.

Selle, 36, is a project manager with an environmental consulting firm. Her husband Scott is a lieutenant with the village's fire department.

She previously said she has a "strong work ethic, proven problem solving skills and leadership abilities," as well as years of experience with working with contractors and large budgets.

“I appreciate the confidence that the residents of Ward A have put in me,” said Selle. “I hope I continue to earn their trust and will be supported again if I choose to come to them in another four years for their support for re-election.”

Apana, 49, served on Council from 2001 to 2005 and is the manager of an automotive dealership's collision center in Medina.

He previously said he would like to bring his first-term experience back to Council.

“I would first like to thank my wife Gretchen and son Stash for their help on the campaign trail,” said Apana. “Secondly, I thank the voters of Ward A for their support at the polls and congratulate Karyn Selle on her elected seat on council.”

In Ward B, results for unopposed incumbent Jesse Nehez were not available at press time.

Incumbent Lennie Noack earned 135 votes to retain his seat in Ward C, according to final, but unofficial results.

Former Summit County Councilman John Bolek, also running unopposed, was elected to the Ward D seat with 163 votes, according to final, but unofficial results.
