Macedonia -- A Park Avenue man pleaded no contest to several misdemeanors Nov. 4 after police said they found him in a men's room stall of a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store drinking alcohol he had not paid for.

Police said the 19-year-old man also had two DVDs he had not paid for and had cut out of their packaging with a knife. Police also said a store employee found a third DVD cut out of its packaging and several full bottles of beer in a rear men's room after the man admitted he had been in there as well.

According to Macedonia Mayor's Court records, the court magistrate found the man guilty of theft, possession of a criminal tool and underage consumption of alcohol, all first-degree misdemeanors. He was given a 90-day suspended sentence, fined $1,500, $600 of which was suspended, and ordered to pay the store $70 in restitution.

Police said the store employee reported the man had gone into the restroom with the alcohol and was drinking it in there in the early evening. Two officers entered the restroom and discovered the man was in the stall with the door closed. The man initially refused to come out, but did so when the officers threatened to break the door down, police said. The man was arrested and held overnight in Macedonia City Jail until his arraignment the next day.
