Northfield Center -- Italia' Olde World Market is a family affair.

It's a "mom and pop shop," says owner Rochelle Budroe.

Budroe opened the business in October with her husband Tony at 62 Leonard Avenue, across from Nordonia Middle School. Budroe said that besides herself and her husband, the only other employee in the 1,300-square-foot space is her mother Steffani Marcoguiseppe.

As the name suggests, the store is in the business of selling Italian-themed foods and gift items. Party trays, gift baskets and gift certificates are available -- just in time for the holidays.

While the current menu is carry-out only, Budroe said she hopes to eventually get some bistro-style tables so patrons can sit down and enjoy a meal. Items on the menu include various sandwiches, salad, soup, stuffed hot banana peppers, fresh Italian bread, pastry desserts and beverages.

Party trays include veggie, cheese, cold cut, shrimp and dessert and cookie trays, as well as special-order trays.

Gift items include vases and wine accessories and gift baskets include coffees, bath salts and a pasta theme-basket with pasta, sauce, bread sticks and utensils.

Miniature gift baskets, which can hold such items as hot chocolate and a mug, are also available.

"You can create your own basket, too," said Tony Budroe.

Rochelle said her family has wanted to operate a food service business for some time.

"But I didn't want the long restaurant hours so we did this instead," she said.

Italia' Olde World Market is open Monday through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
