Police News: Man allegedly punches another man in face following argumentNovember 25, 2009
Northfield Village -- Two men have appointments in Mayor's Court after police said a 46-year-old Route 8 man allegedly punched a 22-year-old Heights Avenue man in the face at a Route 8 business Nov. 14. According to a police report, the 46-year-old was charged with first-degree misdemeanor assault and the 22-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. Police said they responded to the business about 2:30 a.m. after receiving an anonymous report of a fight. Police said the 46-year-old told them the 22-year-old -- described in the report as an acquaintance -- started an argument that led to the physical fight. Police reported a witness supported the 46-year-old's claim. Police said the Northfield Village Fire Department treated the 22-year-old man for his unspecified injuries and reported he refused to be taken to a medical facility for treatment. The 46-year-old was released on a $50 bond. The 22-year-old was given a mayor's court date and released at the scene. Driving under suspension Nov. 15. Man stopped on Route 8: Police charged a 54-year-old Lorain man with driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor, after he was stopped about 1:20 a.m. on Route 8. The man was given a Nov. 24 Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a personal bond. Arrest warrants Nov. 13. Man turns himself in: A 36-year-old Cleveland man, wanted by the Northfield Village Mayor's Court for failing to appear on a driving under suspension charge, turned himself in at the village police department. The man was given a mayor's court date and released on a $250 bond. Nov. 9. Woman turned over by jail: The Cuyahoga County Jail reported they had in custody a Bedford woman, 28, who was wanted by the Northfield Village Mayor's Court for failing to appear on a petty theft charge. The woman was given a mayor's court date and released on a personal bond. Operating a vehicle Nov. 13. Man stopped for speeding: Police charged a Sagamore Hills man, 32, with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a first-degree misdemeanor, and speeding after they stopped him on Route 8 at Beech Avenue about 3:05 a.m. He was given a Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a personal bond. Nov. 13. Police find alcohol in car: Police charged a Bedford man, 51, with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a first-degree misdemeanor, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, fictitious plates and driving with an expired license, all minor misdemeanors, after they stopped him at Milford and North Plaza drives at about 5:10 p.m. Police said the man's registration expired in December 2008, but he had a December 2009 sticker, which they determined belonged on a different vehicle, on his license plate. Police said they also found an open container of beer in his vehicle. The man was given a Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a personal bond. Theft Nov. 7. Arrest follows month-long investigation: Police charged a 24-year-old Rosewood Avenue man with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with the late September theft of a wallet at a village home. According to a police report, a Walton Hills man reported in early October that his wallet had been stolen while he was a guest at the village home Sept. 25. The man said the wallet contained his driver's license, a credit card, a bank card and about $70. The man also reported the credit card had been used the night the wallet was taken to make $117 in purchases at a Route 8 service station. Police said they arrested the man at his Sagamore Hills place of employment on Nov. 7. The man was given a Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a personal bond. Break-in Nov. 7. Vacant home broken into: The owner of a Milford Drive home that had been vacant and for sale since 2008 reported someone had broke into the home since he checked the property Oct. 14. The owner said a rear window was broken and a rear sliding door was pulled off its track. The owner also said interior lights were on, the heat had been turned up and the front door was left unlocked. The woman said nothing was missing. Drug paraphernalia Nov. 1. Boy stopped for faulty muffler: Police charged a 17-year-old Sagamore Hills boy in Summit County Juvenile Court with first-degree misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession and cited him with a motor vehicle equipment violation, a minor misdemeanor, after they stopped him for a loud muffler on Lincoln Drive at about 9:25 p.m. Police said that while talking to the boy, they saw a drug pipe in plain view in the vehicle. While examining it police said, they smelled marijuana coming from it. Police said they also found a box under the driver seat with suspected marijuana residue in it.
