Macedonia -- Police say an 18-year-old woman working with them on a Nov. 20 investigation helped them cite five clerks at various city stores with selling alcohol to an underage person, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to police reports, clerks in all five cases sold the woman a six-pack of beer after they either did not ask for her identification, or did ask but she told them she did not have any.

Police Lt. Vince Yakopovich said the woman was a volunteer working with police. He said the operation was a periodic investigation police conduct to determine if businesses that sell alcohol are checking for proof of age.

Those charged include a 48-year-old Barberton woman working at a Route 82 service station; a Chenook Run man, 21, a Berkshire Drive man, 21, and a Sagamore Hills woman, 28, all working at separate Highland Road service stations; and a 25-year-old Cleveland man who worked at a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store.
