Macedonia -- A Nov. 24 traffic stop for alleged driving under suspension has led to a felony drug charges against an Oakwood Village man and a Cleveland woman after police said they found nearly two pounds of suspected marijuana in their car.

According to Stow Municipal Court records, the 21-year-old man and 25-year-old woman did not enter a plea to fifth-degree felony drug possession at their Nov. 25 arraignment and their cases were sent to a Summit County grand jury on Dec. 3. The man pleaded not guilty to driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor, and the man and woman both pleaded not guilty to fourth-degree misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say they stopped the car while it was westbound on Ledge Road in front of Lee Eaton Elementary School in Northfield Village at about 3 p.m. after a random check of the car's license plate number in a law enforcement database determined the man's license was suspended. Police said that while searching the car, they found 823 grams, or about 1.8 pounds, of suspected marijuana in a bag on the vehicle's rear floor. Police said they also found a scale in the car's trunk. Police estimated the value of the suspected marijuana at $12,000.

The man and woman were released from Macedonia City Jail on Nov. 25 on $10,000 and $20,000 bonds respectively, which were paid by a bail bondsman. Police say the woman was also wanted by Eastlake police on a theft charge.
