Macedonia -- Owners Jordan and Chad Kahn say that first and foremost, Calvetta Brothers Floor Show is a family business.

"We really push the family owned, family operated aspect," said Chad Kahn.

The Kahns opened the flooring business, which includes a 3,000-square-foot showroom, last summer at 874 E. Aurora Road, just east of Herchick Tire Service and Valley View Road. It is named after their cousins, who own a similar business in Bedford Heights and for whom the Kahns previously worked for 12 years.

The Kahns, who are the only full-time employees at the store, say their cousins taught them the ropes.

The two also credit their mother, father and brother, who often help out.

The brothers also have about 16 industry certified, bonded and insured installers working for them.

"Technically, they are subcontractors, but they only work for us because we give them so much work," said Jordan.

The store offers a variety of flooring materials, including carpeting, ceramic, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, cork, bamboo, area rugs and natural stone, as well as carpet cleaning services.

The brothers also say they try to do business as much as possible with local suppliers and many of their products are environment-friendly.

For example, said Chad, cork and bamboo grow more quickly than hardwood trees and therefore more "renewable," and much of their carpeting is made with recycled or chemical-free materials.

"One carpet is a corn-based product, as opposed to other products which are petroleum based," said Chad.

The brothers also say that they work with their customers and understand the latest design trends.

Calvetta Brothers Floor Show is open Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
