by Eric Marotta Editor Akron -- A Stark County man was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Summit County Common Pleas Judge Lynne Callahan for a string of auto parts store robberies in six counties, including the Macedonia AutoZone store, where he was arrested Sept. 13. Store employees there identified Seals from information posted by police following a robbery of the Kent AutoZone store the month before. According to the Summit County Prosecutor's Office, Waynesburg resident Cornelius H. Seals, 40, pleaded guilty to nine counts of second-degree felony robbery Jan. 13. According to court records, the charges were in connection to robberies of nine AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts stores in six counties between June and Sept. 13. According to the prosecutor's office, Seals would enter a store and wait until there were only a few customers left before approaching the register, showing the clerk a gun in his waistband and demanding money. The gun turned out to be a BB gun. Macedonia Patrol Officer Richard Rizzo, who was involved in Seals' arrest, said Seals was in the Macedonia store for about 40 minutes before approaching the checkout counter and demanding cash. While Seals was loitering, employees recognized his photo and vehicle from a flier describing the perpetrator of the Aug. 1 robbery in Kent, Rizzo said. The employees called police, who caught Seals as he was walking out of the store. E-mail: emarotta@recordpub.com Phone: 330-688-0088 ext. 3171 Comments
