------ JESSIE SLIWINSKI ------ Great-great grandmother A Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 15 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church for Jessie Sliwinski, nee Jasinski. Mrs. Sliwinski, 97, died Jan. 10, 2010 at Parma Care Rehabilitation Center in Parma, after being hospitalized at Marymount Hospital. Mrs. Sliwinski was born Aug. 18, 1912, in the Slavic Village neighborhood of Cleveland. She was employed for many years by the Richmond Brothers Co. in Cleveland as a pattern cutter for top coats, where she was greeted personally each and every morning and every evening by the owners themselves. She then assisted her husband, Merton, deceased, in his butcher shop in Slavic Village on Lansing Ave. She was also a banquet waitress for many years at Stouffer's Somerset Inn, on Van Aken and Chagrin Blvd., in Warrensville Heights. Mrs. Sliwinski was president of her local PTU in the 1950s and a very active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was later an active member of St. Wenceslas Catholic Church in Maple Heights from 1968 to 1999. She lived with her daughter, Joanna, from 1999 to 2006, then moved to St. Barnabas Villa in Northfield Center where she enjoyed living until May, 2009. When she was in her 80s, Mrs. Sliwinski volunteered at the gift shop at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights. She loved to help babysit for her grandchilden, then her great-grandchildren, and eventually her great-great-granddaughter. Family members say Mrs. Sliwinski was truly a woman of faith who said the rosary many times each day and always believed to put one's intentions in God's hands with confidence, knowing He would help. Mrs. Sliwinski was the mother of Joanna Hintz (Richard) and Joyce Liederbach (Alan). She was the grandmother of Sandra Worona Welsh (James), Jacqueline Nagle (Rick), Rick Hintz (Margaret), Colleen Guest (Daniel), Lauren Sabo (Julius), Deborah Liederbach-Barther, DDS (Sam Barther, DDS), and Kristen Liederbach Young, DVM (Scott, DVM). She was the great-grandmother of 17 and great-great-grandmother of one. Mrs. Sliwinski was the sister of Phyllis Croft, Lottie Lewandowski, Felix Jasinski, John Jasinski, Walter Jasinski and Dorothy Poling, all deceased, and the loving aunt of many. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery. Ferfolia Funeral Home handled arrangements. Comments
