Police News: Video game items worth $2,220 reported stolen during partyFebruary 3, 2010
Northfield Center -- A Kenwick Drive woman reported that someone took video game systems, games and accessories worth more than $2,200 while she was hosting a party Jan. 30. The woman said there were a large number of people in her home during the party that lasted until about 3 a.m. Jan. 31. According to a police report, the missing items include two video game systems totaling $800 in value, 20 video games worth $1,000 and video game accessories worth $420. The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating. Theft Jan. 27. GPS unit taken from car: A North Royalton woman reported someone took a $225 global positioning system device from her car while it was parked outside a Brookrun Court home during the day. A police report did not specify whether the car was locked, but no damage to the vehicle was reported. Jan. 17. Groceries taken from store: A 51-year-old Independence man pleaded not guilty in Stow Municipal Court to first-degree misdemeanor theft Jan. 27 after an employee of a Route 82 store reported the man had left the store Jan. 17 without paying for $331 worth of groceries in a shopping cart. According to a Summit County Sheriff's Office report, the man left the cart outside the store and drove off when confronted by the employee. A sheriff's deputy was able to call the man after the employee provided the vehicle's license plate number. The man turned himself in at the sheriff's Twinsburg Township office Jan. 20. He was given a court summons and released. -- Sagamore Hills -- Theft January. Snowboards, skis reported stolen: Six patrons of Brandywine Ski resort reported separate incidents between Jan. 2 and Jan. 21 in which someone took skis or snowboards while the equipment was left unattended. The value of the equipment ranged from $270 to $680 for a total of around $2,600 in merchandise. Jan. 18. Unauthorized charges made to credit card: A township man reported someone recently charged an unspecified amount to his credit card account at a Michigan store. The man said he canceled the card and police said the card's provider is investigating. Property damage Jan. 21. Garage door dented: A Canyonview Road woman reported someone apparently struck her garage door with a vehicle while she was gone during the day, putting three dents into it.
