Macedonia -- Police arrested a Northfield Village man during a Feb. 11 traffic stop after discovering a prior felony conviction made it illegal for him to carry the knife he was carrying. According to Stow Municipal Court records, the 24-year-old man did not enter a plea to a charge of carrying a weapon under disability at his Feb. 12 arraignment. The man pleaded not guilty to first-degree misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of fourth-degree misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession and one count of driving with an expired license plate, a minor misdemeanor. The man was released from Macedonia City Jail on a personal bond Feb. 12. Police said they stopped the man on Ledge Road about 9:40 p.m. because his license plate had expired. The city's police dog was present during the stop and indicated the presence of drugs in the car. Police said they found a marijuana pipe and a device used to grind drugs in the man's car, both of which contained residue that later tested positive as marijuana. Police said they found the "ballistic" knife, which uses a spring to propel the knife blade out of the handle, in his pants pocket. Under the law, the man is not allowed to carry such knifes due to his prior conviction, according to the report.
