The Nordonia High School boys and girls bowling teams closed out the 2009-10 regular season recently against Northeast Ohio Conference South Division opponents Mayfield and Solon. The Knights were victorious in both contests.

The boys knocked off the Wildcats by the score of 2,521-2,433 on the road Feb. 2.

Senior Bryce Postolka bowled the high game for Nordonia with a 224. Sophomore Robbie McGregor, meanwhile, posted the high series with a 414 (games of 216 and 198).

The Nordonia girls, on the other hand, beat Mayfield by a 2,142-890 margin.

Senior Lauren Krivos led the way for the Knights. She boasted both the high game (193) and the high series (378).

Then on Feb. 9, Nordonia finished the regular campaign by battling Solon at Roseland Lanes.

The boys defeated the Comets by the score of 2,784-2,537.

Postolka and McGregor each enjoyed huge performances for the Knights, who were considered the away team. Both rolled a 258 in the first regular game. Then Postolka produced a 256 in the second, while McGregor was right behind with a 255.

Nordonia excelled in the Baker Games against Solon, rolling a 211, 243 and 237, respectively.

The girls team also downed the Comets, winning by a 1,854-1,740 margin.

Once again, Krivos posted the high game for the Knights with a 181. In addition, senior Nicole Anderson rolled the high series, producing a 334 (games of 158 and 176).

The Nordonia boys finished the regular season with an overall record of 12-4 and with an identical mark in the South Division. The Knights ended up second in the final division standings behind Stow.

"I think the boys could have finished better," said Nordonia head coach Bob Glontz, "even though they finished second in the division. Stow was 13-3, and we lost both matches we had against them. We let one get away, and the other one was a close match."

The Nordonia girls recorded final records of 9-7 overall and 9-7 in division action.

"The girls did well, although there were a lot of seniors on the team," said Glontz. "I think that overall, they're better bowlers than what they bowled. We had a few injuries, though, not that I'm making excuses for them. They just couldn't get the breaks they needed when they needed them."

The Division I sectional tournament is scheduled for Feb. 20 and 21.
