The Nordonia High School boys basketball team's brutal stretch of games continued recently, as the Knights fell to Northeast Ohio Conference Lake Division foes Parma and Valley Forge.

Nordonia dropped a 64-41 decision to the Redmen on the road Feb. 9. The Knights did not enjoy a good start in that contest, as Parma held a 14-3 lead after the opening quarter.

However, Nordonia bounced back, outscoring the Redmen 16-10 during the second stanza. As a result, the Knights trailed 24-19 at intermission.

The second half, though, belonged to Parma. That's because the Redmen outscored Nordonia 19-8 in the third period and 21-14 during the final frame.

Two players scored in double digits for the Knights. They were junior forward Nick Robertson with 15 points and senior guard Desmond Coggins with 13 points.

In addition, three players contributed four points apiece-sophomore guard Patrick Osborne, sophomore guard Jarred Ruffin and senior center Kezmei Spencer. Junior guard Brandyn Clark rounded out the scoring for Nordonia with one point.

With the victory, Parma improved its overall record to 13-3.

The loss to Valley Forge, though, may have been the most disappointing in the Knights' recent stretch. That's because Nordonia lost to the Patriots in overtime by the score of 54-49 at home Feb. 12.

The game was close throughout, with the score tied 10-10 at the conclusion of the first period. The Knights grabbed the lead in the second quarter and owned a 23-20 advantage at intermission.

Valley Forge eventually overcame that three-point deficit, tying the score 44-44 by the end of the fourth frame.

Then, in the overtime session, the Patriots seized control, outscoring Nordonia 10-5 to claim the hard-fought victory.

Coggins led the Knights offensively with 16 points, while Robertson accounted for 14 markers and Clark had eight points.

With that pair of losses, Nordonia now sports an overall record of 5-12. The Knights are also 3-5 in the Lake Division.

On Feb. 19, the Knights are scheduled to host division foe Mayfield.
