Methodists offer Colonial experience Revolutionary War re-enactors Pat and Rich Featherstun will set up some displays and, in costume, will talk about some of the customs and habits of late 1700s America in Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church of Macedonia, 1280 E. Aurora Road on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. They both are avid historians and have appeared at the Yankee Peddler Festival since its beginnings and have participated in many other programs, discussions, and even movies. After the show there will be plenty of time for questions and to talk with them. Hundreds of years ago, some brave, adventurous souls made a miserable, back-breaking journey to the New World. They set up their residence here, settled along the Atlantic Coast and called themselves a new nation. They had some of the same wants and needs as people today, but they acquired them differently. Their clothing, their cooking utensils, games, toys, and even shoes were very different from those of today. This is a part of the Sanctuary Festival Series. As always there is no charge and plenty of refreshments. There will be a good-will offering. The show will be postponed until March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in case of bad weather. Financial The United Methodist Church of Macedonia is offering a biblically based financial training course by Dave Ramsey. The classes will be at the church, 1280 East Aurora Road in Macedonia. Free previews are scheduled on Feb. 28 at 9:45 a.m. and noon and March 1 at 7 p.m. Classes start March 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. and will run for 13 weeks. The facilitator of the course will be David Komer. Contact the church office at 330-467-3169 to leave contact information, or call Komer directly at 216-798-6353. Benefit for Haiti planned Faith Fellowship Church, under the direction of its Outreach Coordinator Lori Stubbs, has organized "Help Hold Up Haiti," a drive to collect crutches and walkers for the innumerable amputees in Haiti. The church is located at 10277 Valley View Road, east of Route 8, in Macedonia. The Rev. Kathie Kuhn, associate pastor and director of Outreach Ministries at the church, is thrilled with the added cooperation from Peppers Market, Nordonia High School, Nordonia Hills YMCA and Macedonia Chick-Fil-A. Drop-off boxes have been placed at all five locations and the surrounding communities are encouraged to bring in their used or new crutches and/or walkers. Free coupons for Chick-Fil-A sandwiches are being handed out at all locations when a donation is made. The drive will run through Easter Sunday, April 4, at which time the items will be taken to Med Wish International and transported to Haiti. Comments
