A wake up call for the Council persons in Macedonia: As can be seen by the results of the recent Massachusetts Senate race, I believe Democrat Martha Coakley lost because 70 percent of those polled there did not like the health care reforms. Yet she went against the tide and lost.
Now comes our Council. Has it taken a census of the residents to see if they want all of these taxes and levies placed on the ballot?
Members of Council were voted into office to do what the majority of residents want.
If the Council thinks because they were voted in for four years and they are untouchable, they have 12 months protection, because by law they cannot be recalled during their first year in office. On Jan. 1, 2011, protection is gone for several members of Council.
If they have the backbone, before they tax us to death, they should find another way to make ends meet. Council should see if there is any waste in the city.
