by Devan Matthews Correspondent As if the Nordonia High School boys basketball team's rugged second-half regular-season schedule wasn't enough, the Knights had to contend with Mother Nature last week, as well. Nordonia's final regular-season contest was originally scheduled for Feb. 26, at home against Northeast Ohio Conference Lake Division rival Normandy. However, the game was postponed due to inclement weather conditions. Then the game wasn't able to be played the following day because the Invaders didn't have a bus at their disposal. As a result, the contest was re-scheduled again, this time for March 3. In the meantime, though, the Knights were set to compete in their first playoff game ... before their final regular-season contest. That's because the playoff game was set for March 2. As a result of the recent Division I Sectional/District Tournament draw, Nordonia opened the tournament against Firestone at Copley High School. Results of both contests were not available at press time. The Knights and the Falcons met once during the regular season, losing in overtime. According to Nordonia head coach Matt Cash, the Knights expected the Falcons to be a handful. "They're a very athletic team, a very big team," said Cash. "They have two big guys who will be a challenge for us. We're just going to have to do a good job of boxing out. It's going to come down to foul shooting and rebounding. Those have been the keys all season long." E-mail: stowsports@recordpub.com Phone: 330-688-0088 ext. 3113 Comments
