Macedonia -- Jaime Delapaz takes pride in the quality of the food served at the new restaurant he co-owns.

"We serve everything fresh and homemade and nice and hot," Delapaz said. "We don't buy anything in cans."

Delapaz and his five partners opened Dos Coronas (Two Crowns) Restaurante Mexicano Dec. 9 at 269 E. Highland Road, on the northwest corner of the Route 8 intersection.

Delapaz said the 4,200-square-foot restaurant has about 15 employees.

The restaurant has a variety of dishes on its menu, including appetizers, soups and salads, veggie plates and a number of different Mexican entrees, including quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, chef's specials, and chicken, beef, pork and seafood items.

The menu also includes a "create your own combo" option.

Delapaz began working in the restaurant business about 20 years ago. He and his partners opened their first restaurant, El Campesino, in Stow in 1997.

The partners have since opened additional El Campesinos in Streetsboro and Twinsburg and restaurants under the Cozumel name in Independence, Broadview Heights and Brunswick.

Delapaz said the partners chose Macedonia for their latest endeavor because it is a "good location" that is far enough away from the other restaurants they own.

"We did not want to compete with ourselves," he said.

Dos Coronas is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, noon to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. Sundays.
