Sagamore Hills -- PuroClean Emergency Experts has a local point of view.

"We operate as a family business helping a family," said Marketing Director Kara Clevinger, daughter of franchise owner Gary Clevinger.

PuroClean helps its clients save their property from the ravages of water, smoke, fire and mold damage. PuroClean has also dealt with such situations as dead animals under homes and even a few crime scene cleanups.

"That's not very often," said Clevinger. "Water and mold are the two biggest."

PuroClean, which opened in May 2009, has five regular employees, plus two others who work on an as-needed basis. Gary Clevinger said all the employees are capable of working on jobs if necessary.

"Everyone's trained on the equipment," he said.

He operates the business for now out of his home. Clevinger said the hours are 24/7 and to date, the company has been able to get on scene within two hours of a call.

"That is critical. That is a part of our core procedure," said Clevinger.

PuroClean works with police and fire departments, insurance companies, and contractors if a building sustains structural damage.

Gary Clevinger had worked in the information technology field. He decided he wanted a business that involved helping people in trouble. Once he learned of PuroClean, he spent about four months researching the company.

"I love what I do. If you want to touch people's lives [in a positive way], this is the business to be in," said Clevinger.
