Nelson -- A Macedonia resident was among 17 people rounded up on felony drug charges by the Portage County Drug Task Force and Portage County sheriff's deputies during a five-day concert festival at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park from July 1-5.

Drug task force commander Pat Burns said his agents received complaints from Nelson residents about drugs sales in the township, about 15 miles northeast of Ravenna.

"We went proactive on it" during the Gratefulfest event, he said. "It was like shooting fish in a barrel."

Thirteen people were arrested in the span of five hours July 1 and charged with felony drug offenses, Burns said. Among those arrested were Jayson T. Heskett, 26, of Cuyahoga Falls and James Lenahan, 26, of Macedonia.

Another four were rounded up July 2, including Michael R. Trayers, 21, of Stow.

All were charged with felony possession and/or trafficking in drugs.

Among the drugs seized by the Portage County Drug Task Force were ecstasy and other pills, LSD, hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana.

"You name it, it's up there," Portage County Sheriff David Doak said.

The task force also seized chocolate bars with hallucinogenic mushrooms baked into them and a gas mask with a bong -- a marijuana smoking device -- that screws directly into it, he said.

Gratefulfest is billed as "four unforgettable nights with Dark Star Orchestra," a Grateful Dead tribute band, along with other bands, fireworks, and other performers.

The Portage County Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Portage County Sheriff's Office, Aurora, Garrettsville, Kent and Streetsboro police departments and the Portage County Prosecutor's Office.
