The competitive dance group from Center Stage Dance Studio in Northfield Center attended the national finals at the Hall of Fame Dance Challenge in Chicago June 28 to July 2 and came home national champions. A total of 85 dancers from Center Stage along with their families attended the five-day event, which took place at the Pheasant Run Resort. The 45 studios from 10 states included several of the top dance studios in the country. As a studio, Center Stage was represented in the top overalls in every category dancers entered, including solos, duet/trios, and small and large groups in each age division -- petite, junior, teen and senior. On the final day of competition, Hall of Fame held their World Series of Dance and the top five groups from all age divisions re-competed against all the groups regardless of their group size for the World Cup, top award. The mini group "Love Shack" from Center Stage consisting of Joey Ondo, Brooke Tyukodi, Mareena Studinarz, Claire Westphal, Sophia Wolf, Meredith Demarco, and Annemarie Russo came in first place -- ultimately having the highest score out of all 37 groups in their category. The junior group "Glamorous Life," and teen group "Doll House" were also part of the showcase and senior group "The Waves" consisting of Kelly Loschelder, Jessi Schultz, Taylor Banks, Alex Corner, Annie Szendry, Sara Spizzichini, Brooke Bieganski, Brenna Collins, Makenzie Dascenzo, Arielle Libertore and Chandler Lago received third highest score at the showdown. The trio "Wild Horses" also received first overall in the duet/trio category. In the showdown, the trio "Hit the Road Jack" won top prize. In the solo category, Center Stage had 14 dancers progress to the overalls in their own age divisions. The following dancers also re-competed in the World Series: Brooke Tyukodi; Claire Westphal; Julia Spizzichini and Arielle Libertore. This is the fourth consecutive year local dancers from Center Stage have had the privilege of bringing home the title of First Overall National Champions in the group division. Comments
