Macedonia -- Police say they are investigating broken windows and doors at two South Freeway Drive businesses. Police said that when they went to one of the businesses about 12:40 a.m. July 10 in response to a burglar alarm, they found the glass in the front door shattered, along with panes in several windows. Then, an employee of a nearby business reported about 9:40 a.m. he discovered the glass in a side door had been shattered. Police said it appeared someone kicked the door, damaging the door frame. Police said they searched the two buildings and did not find anyone inside and nothing was reported missing from either business. Property damage July 9. Graffiti found on shed: A Firestone Lane man reported someone snapped a small tree on his tree lawn in half and wrote a racial insult with what appeared to be chalk on a shed during the night. July 6. Sugar poured into gas tank: A man reported someone poured a large amount of sugar into his car's gas tank while it was in the parking lot of a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store late in the previous evening. The man said that when he came out of the store, he saw a shadowy figure run from his car, getting into another car and leave the area at a high rate of speed. The man said he did not know who might have done it. July 6. Rocks thrown at truck: An employee of a South Freeway Drive business reported someone threw about 30 fist-sized rocks at a box truck while the truck was in the business' parking lot in the previous few days. Police said there were deep dents, scratches and gouges all along the side of the truck and the windshield and side mirror were shattered. Drug instruments July 8. Man and woman charged: A Bedford man and woman pleaded not guilty July 9 to multiple misdemeanors after police said they found several drug pipes and hypodermic syringes in their car the night before. According to Stow Municipal Court records, police charged both the 35-year-old man and his 34-year-old wife with three counts each of drug instrument and drug paraphernalia possession. The woman was also charged with one count of first-degree misdemeanor drug possession after police said they found she had three tablets of a prescription sedative. They charged the man with one count each of fictitious plates and driving with an expired motor vehicle registration, both minor misdemeanors. Police said they went to South Freeway Drive at a little after 10 p.m. in response to an anonymous report of a suspicious vehicle and saw the couple's car pull out of a business' parking lot. Police said they stopped the car after determining that the expiration date on its temporary license tag had been altered from July 3 to July 8. Police said they found the items in the car after the couple gave them permission to search it. The man and woman were released from Macedonia City Jail on a personal bond July 9. -- Northfield Center -- Assault July 17. Woman struck by flying glass: A Broadview Heights woman, 23, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor assault after an Indiana woman reported the woman caused a two-inch laceration in her forearm from a piece of glass she had thrown at a fence outside an Olde Eight Road bar. The Indiana woman was taken to the Sagamore Hills Medical Center by a relative, where she received stitches. The Broadview Heights woman, who said she did not mean to hurt anyone, was given a summons into Stow Municipal Court and released. Suspicious activity July 17. Man gets call from 'LeBron James': A Kenwick Drive man reported a man identifying himself as LeBron James called and told him he had won $2 million and a Mercedes Benz. The man said he hung up and wanted to file a report to document the incident. Criminal mischief July 17. Eggs thrown at door: An Olde Eight Road woman reported someone threw eggs at her front door during the night. The Summit County Sheriff's Office said the woman washed the egg off the door and there was no damage. Property damage July 15. Gutter taken down: A Kitner Lane woman reported someone took a section of the aluminum gutter down from the side of her home during the previous week. Disorderly conduct July 11. Man allegedly intoxicated: A Northfield Village man, 45, was cited with disorderly conduct after a Sagamore Hills man reported seeing the village man staggering and drinking beer as he walked along Olde Eight Road about 7 p.m. A Summit County Sheriff's Office said the man's speech was slurred and he was swaying back and forth.
