Active area resident, had family in Macedonia

Services were July 22 at Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service for Bernadette C. "Penny" Grossnickle.

Mrs. Grossnickle, 88, died July 17, 2010, at her home in Aurora.

Mrs. Grossnickle was born July 16, 1922, in Cleveland to Michah and Nettie (Kenfield) Finn, both deceased.

A resident of Aurora for more than 60 years, she was a longtime employee of the U.S. Postal Service, serving as a postal clerk at the Aurora Post Office.

Mrs. Grossnickle was a volunteer for the City of Aurora's Disaster Team, for Safety Town and used her gardening skills as an active member of the Aurora City Beautification Committee. In 1997, she was the Grand Marshall for the Fourth of July Parade, honoring her many years of contributions to her city. She and her husband, Robert V. Grossnickle, deceased, were members of the "Golden Mike" CB radio club. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Scott (Patricia Brankatelli) Grossnickle of Macedonia; her nephews Thomas (Almast) Fin of Bainbridge and David (Nancy) Grossnickle of Bay Village. She had many other caring family members and friends. Also surviving is her devoted dog Lucy.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Judy Grossnickle. Burial was at Crown Hill Cemetery next to her husband. Her complete obituary, personal video tribute and funeral service may be viewed online at www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
