South Pointe Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic hospital, and the Macedonia Fire Department worked together June 14 to help more than 70 local Girl Scout troop leaders earn CPR and first aid certifications. The training took place at the Northeast Ohio Girl Scout facility in Macedonia. Troop leaders and instructors gathered for a six hour training course, with 52 students receiving training for CPR and 23 for first aid. Maria Cocco, education manager at South Pointe Hospital, participated as an instructor. "Helping teach CPR and first aid to these leaders was exhilarating. The enthusiasm of the participants and their openness to learn these important skills was very rewarding," said Cocco. "Having three community groups (the Macedonia Fire Department, South Pointe Hospital and the Girl Scouts) band together to make this day happen was a tribute to everyone involved." Comments
