Manta Rays The Manta Rays swim team, based at the Macedonia Recreation Center, participated in the 41st annual Chagrin Valley Invitational Relay Meet July 17. Fourteen teams with 650 swimmers participated in an all-day meet featuring relays for each event. Sixteen swimmers from Manta Rays participated in a total of 20 relays, guided by coach Amy Reville. All 16 swimmers qualified for the finals in 16 of the 20 relays entered. The girls medley relay team of Katie Farley, Hannah Wintucky, Carly Dean and Christina McFarland earned gold medals. Farley, one of the team captains, was "thrilled to get first place in the medley" and exclaimed that "this is my best season." The girls breaststroke relay silver was captured by Sara Vrabel, Missy Bleich, Hannah Wintucky, and Gabby Yonkers. Bronze medals came home with the mixed medley team of David Tanczos, David Malkin, Christina McFarland and Gabby Yonkers. Other swimmers that brought home ribbons were Alexya Patz, Seth Bloom, Sam Losi, Josh Shahidian, Nick Tanczos, Michael Bleich, and Nick Wiemer. The Manta Rays season in the Splash League has earned them an 8-1 record with Reville and her assistant coaches Mallory Kavan and Kayleigh Wlosowicz in charge. NTYF seeks upper division players The Nordonia-Twinsburg Youth Football league has limited openings in the upper division for players ages 11 to 13. Longhorns seek players The Ohio Longhorns baseball program is looking for athletes ages 15-18 who want to compete at the highest level of baseball. The objectives of the Ohio Longhorns are to teach positive values to the players, with a great deal of emphasis on discipline, hustle, attitude and teamwork. The team accelerates player development and increases exposure to next level opportunities by providing first-rate coaching, strong competition and a dedication for success.
