Macedonia -- On the sign out in front of Hudec Dental's newest office it says "Relax and Smile."
"Our philosophy is to just be a neighborhood dentist," said Dr. John Hudec, president of Cleveland-based Hudec Dental.
The Macedonia office, at 845 E. Aurora Road, at North Bedford Road and across from Valley View Road, began serving patients Aug. 16. Grand opening festivities, with the help of the Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce, took place Aug. 14.
The office is under the direction of Dr. Shelley Haas, who has been with Hudec Dental since 2002. Hudec said his office offers a full range of dental services, including preventive and general dentistry.
Hudec said he also uses state-of-the-art technology, including digital x-ray and miniature cameras; air abrasion, which allows the dentist to better target the removal of stains, decay and filling debris without using needles and drills; and Vizilite, which uses a special light to spot tissue abnormalities for oral cancer screenings.
Emergency care is also available.
The office is the 11th that Hudec has opened since his first in Cleveland in 1977, a year after he received his doctor of dental surgery degree from Ohio State University. Other nearby offices are in Bedford, Broadview Heights, and Garfield Heights.
Hudec said that because he lives in Brecksville and his son lives on Valley View Road in Hudson, he had often driven through the area.
"I think it's a good location," he said. "If there are growing communities in the Cleveland area, Macedonia is one."
Hudec Dental is now open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"Ultimately, we're going to six days [a week]," said Hudec.
