The community is invited to celebrate the grand opening of the new Boliantz Stadium and other recently constructed outside athletic facilities at Nordonia High School at the Aug. 27 first game of the season and a community day Aug. 28.

On Aug. 27, the ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place at 6:45 p.m. with former Superintendent William Boliantz cutting the ribbon to officially open the new stadium and outdoor facilities.

Lining the football field will be a sea of green -- student athletes, cheerleaders and band members -- to display Nordonia pride and the impact these facilities will have on the students and residents of the Nordonia Hills community today and in the years ahead.

Fireworks, paid for by the Nordonia Hills Athletic Boosters, will be fired off when the National Anthem is played, when the Nordonia Knights come out on the field, each time the Knights score and during a 12-minute show after the game.

Other events which will take place include a musical performance by the Nordonia Lancer Band and a Class of 2014 tailgate party.

The Community Thank You Open House will be Aug. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The facilities will be open to the community for a special celebration. There will be many events including autographs by athletes, raffle prizes, free hot dogs and soda provided by the athletic boosters, balloon animals, dunk tank, poster making, bake sale, face painting, Lancer Band musical performances and autographs, corn hole, door prizes, and more.
