Calling all Knights fans. The dream has become a reality.
This Friday when the Nordonia Knights football team and Nordonia Lancer Band take the field, they do so on field and in a stadium that was truly a community effort.
As president of the Nordonia Athletic Booster Club, I would like to invite the entire community to join us.
The building of the outdoor athletic facilities was made a reality because of this community, and we want to thank everyone.
The former athletic fields and stadium were old and run down. I hope when people walk into the stadium on Friday they do so with pride.
The evening will be special as we welcome our neighbors from Maple Heights, the 2009 State runner-up in Division II.
To help kick off this new era, the Booster Club and other private donors have made arrangements for fireworks.
Just to confirm, not a dime of school district dollars were used to pay for the fireworks; it is our way of thanking the community for a job well done.
The crowd is expected to be large, so we recommend fans get tickets early.
We also invite the community to join us for an open house at the new stadium and athletic facilities Aug. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m.
This will be the community's chance to take a behind-the-scenes tour of all the places that cannot be seen on Friday night.
There will be free food, tours, activities for the children and more.
Thanks again to the community for supporting this new endeavor. We hope that once everyone sees it, they will realize we have done a good thing not only for the schools but for our entire community.
